Who we are...

The Wheelabrator Abrasives plant was built in 1973 by Wheelabrator Corp. The manufacturing facility is located on eight acres in Bedford VA. Since then, the plant has increased its capacity by 100%.

Since 1991, many improvements have been made the plant, among which :

• Conversion from H20 to air quenching
• Upgraded shot & grit hardening and tempering furnaces
• Larger and more efficient crushers

The quality control which has always prevailed and has recently lead to an ISO Registration stresses on the use of only premium steel scrap and alloys for the melting process.

The chemistry and microstructure is monitored each step of the process :

• Scrap
• Individual molten heats
• Post pour
• Finished product
• Certification to specification
